[Satellite TODAY 03-12-13] Cobham is presenting a new HD MPEG4 IP Encoder that features IP connectivity via 3G, 4G and LAN at CABSAT 2013 in Dubai. Specifically designed for broadcast applications the IP encoder includes high capacity 3G capabilities to ensure access to high-speed wireless 3G Internet connections from remote locations.
According to Cobham’s Broadcast Systems Director Stuart Brown, the IP encoder has the ability to operate in standard, low and ultra-low latency modes. “And with power consumption rated at a very low 7-9 watts, this encoder is ready for extended periods of deployment in virtually any environment,” he said on a statement.
The IP encoder also features connectivity for composite, SDI, HD-SDI and HDMI video inputs, and audio input options that include balanced analogue audio running on 48V phantom power, making it easy to connect the device to any camera.
Broadcast-standard IFB talkback is optional to all models. WiFi technology provides wireless connectivity between presenter, camera and the newsroom. It also allows access to IT facilities, email and the Internet that can be shared by the location crew.
Additionally, Cobham’s IP encoder includes a USB port for high-speed file uploads or for use with a 3G/4G dongle. The encoder is available in three forms, a small “brick,” camera back, or rack mount.
