[Satellite TODAY 02-06-13] Spanish satellite company Hispasat has launched 4,000 antennas for its broadband satellite services. The move offers advanced broadband services to the Spanish cities that until now had either none or limited internet access via the Hispasat 1E satellite.
The company is working with the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce’s Avanza plans to offer the antennas. The Avanza plans were created to help develop the telecommunications sector in Spain. Under their agreement, the installation and purchase of the equipment is being subsidized though the plans.
In addition to this move, Hispasat is launching its tenth satellite, the Amazonas 3, on Feb. 7. The satellite will provide Ka-band coverage to the whole Latin American region, and work as a replacement for the Amazonas 1. It will be positioned at 61 degrees west.
