Abu Dhabi-based satellite operator Yahsat is gearing up to launch its YahClick “broadband everyone” satellite service in South Sudan.
The service aims to provide wide reaching, high performance, satellite broadband Internet to unserved and underserved locations and communities across the country. Yahsat selected local based Internet service provider RCS-Communication as its service partner for South Sudan. RCS-Communication said it would be adding and training VSAT technicians and support staff to its existing team based on anticipated growth.
“As the world’s youngest country, South Sudan is facing multiple infrastructure building priorities,” Yahsat CEO Tareq Abdul Raheem Al Hosani said in a statement. “YahClick brings Internet connectivity instantly to the population, irrespective of the state of the local telecommunications infrastructure that is within their reach. YahClick therefore fast tracks connectivity to this young country beyond what is humanly possible with the time and expense it takes to expand fixed or wireless Internet solutions.”
