 [Satellite TODAY 12-19-12] Hispasat’s new Amazonas 3 satellite for Latin America is currently undergoing its final construction phase, the company announced Dec. 19.

The satellite is scheduled for an early 2013 launch from Arianespace‘s French Guyana Kourou space base aboard an Ariane ECA rocket. 
Amazonas 3 aims to cover the entire American continent, Europe and North America at the 61 degrees West position with 52 transmitters in the Ku-, Ka- and C-bands. The satellite will be the first Ka-band satellite to operate in the LATAM region.
