[Satellite TODAY 11-16-12] Satmex has developed the new brand image “Satmex Reaching Higher,” following financial and operational restructuring and including the launch of the two new satellites Satmex 7 and Satmex 8, the fixed satellite services (FSS) provider announced Nov. 16.

Satmex President and CEO Patricio Northland discussed the changes Satmex has undergone at the Satcon 2012 Conference. According to Northland, "Satmex Reaching Higher" aims to redefine the company in order to address and capitalize on the demand for satellite communications services throughout the Americas.
"We will be launching Satmex 8 shortly, one of the most advanced commercial communications satellites in its category.  This new 64-transponder satellite not only represents a new technological advantage for us, but also the chance to increase our signal coverage and transponder capacity," Northland added.
Satmex is also currently developing the next generation electric powered Satmex 7 satellite, planned to be launched into orbit by Space-X‘s latest generation launch Falcon-9 vehicle. Satmex has partnered with Space-X, Asia Broadcast Satellite (ABS) and Boeing for the construction and launch of its new generation satellites. Northland commented, "This partnership exemplifies our technological leadership and allows us to achieve industry leading operational efficiency and unparalleled customer satisfaction."
