[Satellite TODAY 11-02-12] Satellite service provider Intelsat will provide Fiji TV with capacity to deliver direct-to-home (DTH) services to customers throughout the Pacific Ocean region via its Intelsat 19 video neighborhood at 166 degrees East, Intelsat announced Oct. 31.
The agreement aims to enable Fiji TV to expand its Pay TV business in the Pacific Ocean region and add programming to its current package with its new MPEG-4 platform on Intelsat 19.
“DTH service is often the only medium for reaching viewers in the remote communities of the geographically dispersed Pacific Ocean region,” Intelsat Regional Vice President of Asia-Pacific Sales Terry Bleakley said in a statement. “Therefore, DTH providers and programmers seeking effective access to customers from Australia and New Zealand to the Pacific Islands continue to turn to the Intelsat 19 video neighborhood for reliable distribution.”
The Intelsat 19 satellite provides media, government and network services customers in the western United States and Asia-Pacific regions with C- and Ku-band capacity, as well as maritime and aeronautical customers throughout the northern and southwestern Pacific Ocean region with connectivity via three Ku-band mobility beams.
