[Satellite TODAY 10-09-12] Beam Communications, a subsidiary of World Reach Limited, has successfully installed an Inmarsat IsatDock Pro at the Antarctic Polar Station in Russia, increasing the quality of satellite calls, Beam announced Oct. 9.
With the installation and successful launch of Beam’s IsatDoc Pro on the Russian Polar station, the call and voice quality was reported to be extremely high despite the severe environment and remote location of the station. Upon testing of different types of antennas, the ISD71 Maritime Active Antenna and ISD700 Fixed Passive, Beam said the antenna proved to produce the strongest voice quality.
“The IsatDock Pro is an intelligent docking station for the IsatPhone Pro, designed to support accessing voice services via Bluetooth, RJ11/POTS, handsfree speakerphone or the active privacy handset. The IsatPhone Pro handset fits securely in the dock which is also key lockable,” Beam Communications said in a statement. “Other features include phone charging, USB data port, inbuilt ringer antenna and power permanently connected to the dock ready for use.”
Beam’s IsatDoc Pro solution is mainly utilized for service communication between multiple polar stations.
