Cassidian and Astrium Services conducted a live demonstration in Brazil of an end-to-end surveillance communication solution, as well as features that can be added to a Tetrapol radio communication network when interconnected via satellite, the companies confirmed Sept. 26.

Astrium Services supplied its ND SatCom product range and satellite-based broadband VSAT, broadcast, government and defense communication networks and ground station solutions. Cassidian said the Tetrapol network-powered secure radio communication services it provided are already in use by the Brazilian federal police department.
“Tetrapol regional networks are usually interconnected using terrestrial connections. In remote areas such as the Amazon Forest, where terrestrial telecommunication’s infrastructure is poor or nonexistent, the Astrium Services’ ND Satcom Skywan technology can now enable the interconnection of several networks over satellite with DAMA technology to share bandwidth between all the nodes,” Cassidian said in a company statement.
