[Satellite TODAY 07-25-12] Telenor Satellite Broadcasting (TSBc) has pre-sold nearly its entire allocation of occasional-use capacity at the 1 degree West orbital slot for special broadcast services covering the 2012 London Olympic Games, the company announced July 24.

TSBc signed a contract with the BBC in 2011 for capacity on the IS 10-02 satellite in 2011 and has agreed to similar deals with broadcasters TV 2 Denmark and Danmarks Radio.
BBC Sports booked 27MHz of TSBc capacity with an additional 9MHz guaranteed for coverage on certain event days for the duration of the Olympics. The capacity will be used in addition to TSBc’s own fiber solution. Danmarks Radio booked 18MHz of bandwidth, which it will use for broadcast news reports and event updates from various locations in London.
“From our attractive orbital position at 1 degree West, TSBc is well placed to provide dynamic bandwidth plans, high-quality power levels and suitable footprint coverage,” TSBc Occasional Broadcasting Sales Director Lisa Barlow said in a statement. “It is great to be working with so many European broadcasters for such a high-profile event.”
