[Satellite TODAY 11-09-11] Gilat Satcom partnered with Over-the-Top (OTT) video platform provider Tvinci to jointly roll out a full duplex satellite-based OTT TV solution, the companies confirmed Nov. 8.

The solution aims to utlilize Gilat Satcom’s satellite-based connectivity services and Tvinci’s Pay OTT platform to deliver accessible OTT TV content to PCs, connected TVs, set-top boxes, tablets and smartphones in global regions in which broadband connectivity is low.

“Our mission was to bring connectivity to customers operating beyond the reach of traditional telecommunications … This ground-breaking project enables, for the first time, the delivery of OTT video to multiple regions in Africa, Asia and the Middle East,” Gilat Satcom CEO Dan Winter said in a statement.
