[Satellite TODAY 10-12-11] Video infrastructure solutions provider Harmonic has entered into a strategic partnership with cloud-based software developer KIT Digital to combine products from both companies’ portfolios and create an end-to-end multi-screen video architecture offering, the partners announced Oct. 11.

   Harmonic said it is working together with KIT Digital to create solutions that aim to enable tier-one video providers to expand existing broadcast and pay TV services efficiently with new multiplatform, multi-device delivery models.

   The integrated solution will combine product offerings such as KIT Digital’s video asset management platform and Harmonic’s multi-codec, multi-format video processing and storage technology to allow customers to deliver and optimize video services for live linear feeds, catch-up and start-over TV, and video-on-demand.

   “A strategic focus for service and content providers alike is to gain operational efficiency while extending service offerings for consumers. As the lines between traditional broadcast and new media distribution channels blur, our clients are demanding an integrated, seamless and cost-effective solution. Already, clients have recognized the value and synergies of our combined offering,” KIT Digital Chief Strategy Officer Scott Sahadi said in a statement.
