[Satellite TODAY 06-17-11] ST Electronics launched a new series of compact and lightweight Block Up Converters (BUCs) under its Agilis brand, the manufacturer announced June 16.

    The Agilis BUC series is available in C-, X-, Ku- and Ka-Band frequency ranges, operates across a wide temperature range and consumes less than 34W DC power, ST Electronics said.

    The BUCs can be mounted directly on an antenna feed horn, eliminating the need for interconnecting cables and minimizing Radio Frequency (RF) cable loss. The products are being targeted for both mobile and uplink applications, delivering advanced capability for monitoring and control through Bluetooth and Wifi wireless interfaces.

    “Our Agilis products have become widely accepted globally and have grown from strength to strength, serving a wide range of industry, covering telecommunications, government and defense, maritime, oil and gas, broadcast and enterprise organizations in over 100 countries. Our quality satellite communications products and solutions address the needs of today’s rural areas and urbanizing cities,” ST Electronics said in a company statement.
