[Satellite TODAY 06-13-11] San Marino RTV signed a three-year contract with Eutelsat Communications to commence pan-Italian and pan-European broadcasting of its SMtv channel on the Eurobird 9A satellite, the operator announced June 10.
San Marino’s national broadcaster will use the capacity to make its 24-hour general entertainment channel available free-to-air to satellite TV homes. The channel also will be carried in the Sky Italia and TivuSat DTH platforms and will be uplinked from the Cagliari (Sardinia) teleport owned and operated by Eutelsat’s affiliate, Skylogic.
“Through satellite broadcasting, the small state of San Marino is now able to deliver a new perspective on news for viewers in Italy and across Europe. Our commitment is to leveraging these new platforms to offer an innovative, complete and continually upgraded service,” San Marino RTV CEO Carmen Lasorella said in a statement.
