[Satellite TODAY 06-10-11] Enterprise and public safety secure communications specialist Vislink has acquired Gigawave, a wireless broadcast camera, microwave and antenna product manufacturer, for a cash consideration of $6.1 million, Vislink announced June 9.
The cash acquisition was financed out of Vislink’s existing cash balances. Gigawave will be integrated into Vislink’s U.K. operations. Gigawave founder and existing Managing Director Henry Barczynski will serve the Group as Chief Marketing Officer reporting to Vizlink Chairman and CEO John Hawkins.
Vislink said Gigawave was an attractive acquisition because of its strength in “on-board” and its ability to complement and broaden its capabilities in engineering, product portfolio and geographic reach.
“The acquisition of Gigawave will broaden our offering within the broadcast market. The Gigawave business and its management are well known to us and we look forward to the Gigawave and Vislink teams working together, sharing product developments, distribution and sales opportunities,” Hawkins said in a statement.
