[Satellite TODAY 05-06-11] Russian satellite broadcaster NTV Plus will enter the IPTV market and deploy Verimatrix’s IPTV Video Content Authority System (VCAS) on its wholesale network as the result of a contract announced May 5 by the two companies.
    NTV Plus will use the VCAS solution to secure video for its IP local broadband service. The broadcaster will add Verimatrix’s cardless security solution to support a wider range of hybrid set-top boxes designed to provide flexibility for local broadband resellers.
    “Entering the IPTV market is a major initiative for us and we wanted a partner that not only understood the particular security challenges that exist on IP networks, but also had experience with distributed wholesale models. Using a software-based security solution from Verimatrix helps keep our IPTV project cost-effective for operators and hassle-free when it comes to digital rights management,” NTV-Plus Spokesman Aleksey Zhuravlev said in a statement.
