[Satellite TODAY 04-02-11] France Télévisions has selected Thomson Video Networks’ head-end technology solution to help the broadcaster launch DTV services for French-administered overseas territories in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans, Thomson announced April 1.
France Télévisions will use the Thomson solution to deliver its programming in SD and HD with MPEG-4 encoding. Thomson’s provided solution suite includes: ViBE EM1000 and EM3000 encoders; NetProcessor 9030 Multiplexers; Sapphire MPEG servers; Thomson Amethyst switchers with advanced delivery-chain monitoring capability; and Thomson RD5000 SD/HD MPEG-2/4 receiver/decoders.
“This installation – our second major project with France Télévisions in 2010 and 2011 – has provided a state-of-the-art platform for extremely bandwidth-efficient DTV operations serving a widely dispersed audience around the globe," Thomson Video Networks President Christophe Delahousse said in a statement.
