[Satellite TODAY 03-15-11] RRsat Global Communications will be providing its playout and uplink services for HighTV’s full lineup of HD 3-D programming, the company announced March 14.
    RRsat will distribute the video service over the Eurobird-9A satellite to Europe and over the Measat-3a satellite throughout the Asia-Pacific region in MPEG-4 compression and DVB-S2 broadcast standard. The channels will be played out from RRsat’s playout center using digital workflow and archival storage of over 4 terabytes of HighTV’s 3-D material. 
    “We have already established RRsat’s capabilities with live 3-D interactive broadcast over fiber between continents and a major European 10-day sporting event broadcast in 3-D over satellite. Working alongside HighTV, we intend to demonstrate that 3-D TV is a valuable format in the genres of entertainment and lifestyles as well,” RRSat Senior Director of Sales Koby Zontag said in a statement.
