[Satellite TODAY 03-11-11] Global satellite communications provider NewCom has developed a turnkey, self-contained live video-streaming package that aims to provide broadcasters in remote locations with live streaming services to viewers around the globe, the company announced March 10.
    The portable service uses NewCom’s iDirect-based NetSharing platform – requiring users only to connect a video camera to the components in the LiveStream Mobile box, set up the small antenna that comes with the package, embed one of several available streaming feeds onto their website, and start the camera rolling.
    Live feeds are transported via satellite to a streaming server located at NewCom’s Miami teleport and are broadcast live on the correlating website. "The service utilizes aggressive compression technology combined with iDirect’s powerful, efficient shared platform service to minimize bandwidth requirements, ensuring a low-cost solution that delivers high-quality video streaming performance," the company said in a statement.
