[Satellite TODAY 02-11-11] Harris Corp. was awarded a contract to supply its entire HD broadcast portfolio to the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Culture and Information at four new HD studio facilities, Harris announced Feb. 10.
    The new studios, which are located in the Saudi cities of Arar, Al Joaf, Najran and Al Baha, will receive the HD solutions from Harris’ partner and Riyadh-based systems integrator First Gulf Co. Harris said that negotiations with the customer to supply additional studios and transmission projects are currently underway.
    The new HD studios will incorporate control rooms and playout facilities and feature interoperable solutions from Harris, including: Harris Videotek test and measurement devices to maintain signal integrity; Nexio servers for content acquisition, production, distribution and media management; and Harris’ up- and down-converters.
    Financial details of the contract were not disclosed.
