[Satellite TODAY 12-29-10] Qtel has rolled out the Thuraya XT mobile handset to its worldwide retail outlets, the company announced Dec. 28.
    The service will be available in both prepaid and post-paid segments. Qtel said that customers who chose the prepaid plan would get a full year’s validity on a one-time activation fee payment.
    “The Thuraya XT service is particularly useful for travelers and those looking to venture deep into desert regions. As an added benefit, Thuraya phones deliver ‘great value’ for those traveling overseas, as calls from outside the local coverage area are transferred to Thuraya’s satellite and then connected, delivering a highly competitive roaming fee,” Qtel said in a statement.
