[Satellite TODAY 11-30-10] Mobile and fixed-site remote communications solutions provider Stratos Global is deploying Inmarsat’s FleetBroadband service on up to 16 commercial vessels for Vega-Reederei, a global shipping company based in Hamburg, Germany, Stratos announced Nov. 28.
    Vega’s fleet includes 22 container vessels, nine bulkers and two tankers. FleetBroadband from Stratos already has been deployed on eight vessels, with deployment on an additional eight vessels expected in the coming weeks, along with the provision of Stratos’ AmosConnect Crew CommCenter.
    Vega currently uses FleetBroadband fot connectivity to email, Internet access and voice communications while at sea. The shipping company uses FleetBroadband 250 terminals with an onboard firewall.
