[Satellite Today 11-15-10] Measat Satellite Systems signed a capacity deal with GlobeCast to distribute one of Asia’s major sporting events, the operator announced Nov. 11.  

Measat will provide a total of two transponders on the Measat-3 and Measat-3a satellites that GlobeCast will use to distribute the Asian Games 2010, which began Nov. 12 and runs through to the end of the month, in Guangzhou, China, to Globecast customers.

“Measat’s Occasional Usage Service platform has built a solid reputation for distributing major sporting events in the Asia-Pacific region. Within this year, we have distributed the FIFA World Cup, Commonwealth Games, and now the Asian Games on our platform,” Jarod Lopez, director of sales, Broadcast Services, Measat, said in a statement.
