[Satellite TODAY 10-27-10] Philippine DTH operator GSAT leased an additional transponder on SES World Skies’ NSS-11 satellite to boost its available Ku-band capacity at 108.2 degrees East, SES announced Oct. 27.
GSAT said it would use the additional transmission capacity to add more channels to its DTH service, launched in 2008, and to introduce HDTV services in the Philippines. NSS-11 provides high-power DTH coverage over high-demand markets such as Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea and China.
“With the addition of new TV channels to the GSAT satellite DTH bouquet, NSS-11 further establishes itself as a leading video neighborhood targeting the Philippines,” SES World Skies Vice President of Asia-Pacific Sales Elias Zaccack said in a statement.
