[Satellite TODAY 10-26-10] T-Mobile is going into the satellite TV business in the Czech Republic, the mobile provider announced Oct. 25.
    Starting in November, customers will be able to activate T-Mobile TV satellite TV service at its shops under two plan options, with a possibility to subscribe to up to three additional bundles. T-Mobile also will offer a satellite dish and a receiver supporting HD and a USB recording function to subscribers in the Czech market.
    In a statement, T-Mobile spokesman Petr DvoÅ™ák said the mobile provider decided to make the satellite-TV offering after market research showed that many Czech viewers are unprepared for the country’s upcoming transition to digital TV next year.
    “Many households are now dealing with the question of how to get TV signal once analog broadcasting ceases. We have therefore decided to include the T-Mobile TV service in our offer. Unlike the standard DVB-T system, it will offer many channels in HD quality.”
