[Satellite TODAY 10-25-10] KVH Industries and its partner ViaSat have increased their mini-VSAT broadband network’s capacity in the European region by 100 percent through the addition of the NSS-6 satellite’s Ku-band coverage, the companies announced Oct. 22.
    NSS-6 will help the partners support KVH’s maritime subscribers and ViaSat’s Yonder in-flight broadband network for business and commercial aircraft. The expanded network is built upon an architecture that includes ViaSat’s ArcLight spread spectrum technology.
    “Commercial, leisure, and government mariners who rely on mini-VSAT Broadband for their Internet and voice connections will enjoy the benefit from these enhancements via their existing, compact TracPhone V7 hardware," KVH Vice President of Satellite Sales Brent Bruun said in a statement.
