[Satellite TODAY 10-22-10] Harmonic has introduced its new SupraLink universal transmitter and wave division multiplexing solution to commercial markets, the company announced Oct. 21.
    Harmonic designed the SupraLink 16-wavelength solution to provide versatility, improve efficiency and lower costs for the complete range of forward HFC transmission applications.
    “The SupraLink universal transmitter can avoid the need for new fiber installations to support additional segmentation and commercial services applications — a significant benefit that shortens time-to-market for new services in addition to reducing costs. In a typical installation, SupraLink can be as low as one-tenth of the cost of alternative solutions that require new fiber,” the company said in a statement.
