[Satellite TODAY 10-15-10] The provincial government of Ontario is providing ASC Signal with a grant worth more than $900,000 to help the company become more competitive in global markets and attract workers to the region, ASC Signal announced Oct. 14.
    The grant is part of ASC’s $6.1 million strategy to support the province’s five-year Open Ontario Plan to create new job opportunities and help promote economic growth. The satellite and radar antenna manufacturer recently relocated its earth-station antenna production line from Mexico to an 88,000 square foot facility in Whitby, Ontario.
    The company also is developing communication products to sell to regional airport operators, as well as equipment for detecting birds, which increases transportation safety.
