[Satellite TODAY 10-05-10] IP-based solutions provider International Datacasting Corp. (IDC) has entered into a partnership to supply Arqiva with digital cinema-specific content distribution applications and remote site equipment, IDC announced Oct. 4.
Arqiva, which previously selected IDC to implement an initial network, will expand the deployment of its network, supported by IDC’s digital cinema-specific remote site solutions, to provide a fully managed electronic delivery service across Europe to Arqiva’s media distributor clients. The systems will power the delivery of feature-length films, movie trailers and live content.
“Our development teams have been working collaboratively over recent months to develop a platform that provides Arqiva with significant operational efficiencies. IDC has played a significant role in supporting our aspirations to become the principle network for the delivery of digital cinema packages in Europe,” Arqiva Satellite Media Commercial Director Barrie Woolston said in a statement.
Separately, IDC’s 3-D technology partner Sensio Technologies signed a contract with an unnamed semiconductor developer to integrate its 3-D technology into upcoming system-on-a-chip (SoC) and digital signal processing (DSP) products targeted to 3-D TVs. “The tier-1 company licensing our technology is a preferred supplier to the leading manufacturers of digital entertainment solutions. … There is strong industry demand for chip solutions equipped to enable superior-quality 3D images,” Sensio President and CEO Nicholas Routhier said in a statement.
