[Satellite TODAY 09-15-10] Integral Systems subsidiary SAT Corp. has been chosen by Hispasat to upgrade its existing Monics carrier monitoring system at their ground stations in Spain and Argentina, Integral Systems announced Sept. 14.
The upgrade will extend Monics carrier monitoring and interference detection to Hispasat’s 1E Satellite, which is scheduled to be launched later this year or early next year.
Monics is a radio frequency monitoring system that will provide automatic monitoring of Hispasat 1E carriers and delivers carrier monitoring and interference detection in a fraction of the time of a classic spectrum analyzer. Monics’ open architecture interfaces with planning tools and geo-location products such as Integral Systems’ satID Geolocation system. The geo-location service is intended to deter malicious or accidental disruption of satellite communications services while allowing customers to identify and locate the source of interference.
“Hispasat has relied on Monics’ advanced monitoring and interference detection for more than 10 years to help ensure quality of service and to meet service level agreements for its customers. In addition, because Monics is able to identify interference in a matter of seconds, satellite operators and service providers are able to increase margins and lower costs,” SAT Corp. President Bob Potter said in a statement.
