[Satellite TODAY 09-13-10] Harmonic has unveiled its NMX Digital Service Manager 6 (NMX 6) enhanced network management solution, which aims to provide tools for monitoring and managing video processing and delivery systems, the company announced Sept. 10.
NMX 6 capabilities include an enhanced GUI, streamlined workflow management, improved alarm management and a comprehensive dashboard view to simplify service management and facilitate troubleshooting and analysis.
Harmonic said the new unit improved service creation, configuration and system performance, including failover and recovery time by more than 50 percent in initial testing. System load time and map import/activation were accelerated by 20 percent.
“Leading broadcast, cable, telco and satellite video service providers around the world use Harmonic’s NMX Digital Service Manager to configure, control and monitor Harmonic and third-party video network elements … These enhancements allow operators to benefit from a very powerful management platform for service routing from ingest to delivery,” Harmonic Spokesman Marios Stylianou said in a statement.
Separately, Harmonic announced that its ProStream 1000 stream processor with ACE transcoding technology has completed compliance testing for the Microsoft Mediaroom IPTV platform.
Microsoft administered testing as part of the Microsoft Mediaroom Interoperability and Qualification Lab program, which is intended to enable the ongoing interoperability and compliance of headend equipment used in deployments of Microsoft Mediaroom.
ProStream 1000 with ACE is a high density HD/SD broadcast transcoder to complete Mediaroom compliance testing. ACE supports HD and SD, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) video and audio transcoding of up to 20 HD or 80 SD channels in a compact and power-efficient one rack-unit chassis.
