German satellite pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland will launch its 3-D TV service in October, the company announced.
The 3-D service will feature sporting events, movies, documentaries, music, arts and more. The service can be received through any Sky HD capable set-top-box – including the newly introduced Sky Plus – and must be connected to a 3-D TV.
There is also a cable element to this deal. The new Sky 3-D event channel will also be available through the cable networks of Kabel BW. Extending the triple-play partnership, Kabel BW will carry both the new Sky HD-3-D service as well as the recently launched Sky Sport HD 2 channel.
“Our market leading True HD service already offers the best content and picture quality, and with our new 3-D service we’re taking that one step further. Combined with our wide choice of exclusive sports and movies we will deliver an amazing experience for the growing number of homes with 3D capable TVs across Germany and Austria,” Sky Deutschland CEO Brian Sullivan said in a statement.
