[Satellite TODAY 09-01-10] SES Astra has selected the Sport1 channel to join its HD Plus platform in Germany, the operator announced Sept. 1.
    HD Plus, a subsidiary of SES Astra, is a technical platform for the transmission and reception of TV channels in HD quality. SES Astra launched HD Plus in 2009 to provide HD services to German households over a satellite platform. Sport1, owned by Constantin Media, will focus on live and premium sports television as well as reliable news reports and coverage.   
    “With this new form of distribution, we will offer high added value not only to our viewers but also to our advertising and licence partners,” Constantin Media CEO Bernhard Burgener said in a statement.
