[Satellite TODAY 08-31-10] Iraqi satellite broadcaster Alsumaria has selected Newtec’s DualFlow and FlexACM technologies to help continue its migration toward tapeless news production, Newtec announced Aug. 30.
Alsumaria’s fleet can now deliver live transmission of MPEG-4 over IP, with the dual capability of switching to ASI when required thanks to DualFlow. Staff also can achieve file transfers and downloads between the DSNG units and the production center, increasing speed of response to unfolding events.
“We now have a state-of-the-art operation that gives us an unparalleled ability to respond to events, cover breaking news more effectively and deliver higher quality content to a wider range of viewers than ever before,” Alsumaria TV CTO Jad Atallah said in a statement.
Newtec has been working to expand its presence in the Middle East through new technology partnerships. The company recenetly announced it was teaming up with the First Gulf Co. to deliver a next-generation television and radio exchange network as part of the Saudi Arabian government’s nationwide media transformation program. This initiative involves a significant deployment of satellite-based technology for a national infrastructure delivering television, radio and Intranet services.
