[Satellite TODAY 08-27-10] Hong-Kong based operator APT Satellite saw profits almost double in the first half of 2010 to $12.54 million, an increase of over 85 percent compared to the $6.79 million the operator reported in 2009, according to APT’s latest financial results issued Aug. 26.
APT also saw a healthy increase in its overall revenues. For the six months to the end of June, the operator recorded revenues of $46.69 million compared to $29.51 million in the first half of 2009.
In a statement, APT Executive Director and President Cheng Guangren said its results were favorable considering the fierce market competition in the Asia Pacific region. “The group has successfully entered into new markets and expanded its customer base, thereby increasing the overall utilization rate of its satellites compared to the same period last year.”
