[Satellite TODAY 08-26-10] Latens has signed a contract with Satellite Channel Nepal, a pay-TV provider in the South Asia region, to provide its conditional access content security services for the provider’s new DTH service, Latens announced Aug. 25.
Satellite Channel, which was awarded a DTH operating license at the beginning of 2010, will launch with a minimum of 80 national and international HD/SD channels. Satellite Channel aims to bring DTH services to 300,000 to 400,000 subscribers within the first three years of operations.
“This deployment is the latest in the growing number of Asian Telcos selecting Latens CA solutions and is further evidence of our high reputation for dependability and ease of operation and deployment,” Rahul Nehra, Latens’ Asia regional director, said in a statement.
Latens is looking to expand its presence in the global DTH market, and compete with vendors such as NDS and the Kudelski Group. Earlier in August, the company announced that it had formed a partnership with Arion Technology, a Korean set-top box set-top box manufacturer to offer solutions to DTH players. Latens CA system is DVB compliant software, and is designed for operators of cable, DTH and DTT that do not have a return path.
