[Satellite TODAY 08-16-10] U.K. broadcast services company Telegenic has installed a digital SoundField microphone and upmix processor in its new 3-D OB mobile broadcasting vehicle, which entered service for European satellite broadcaster BSkyB in April, the company announced Aug. 13.
    The OB main surround microphone is a combination of SoundField’s digital DSF-2 and DSF-3 digital 5.1 surround processor, which produces a phase-coherent, all-digital 5.1 soundscape that can be down-mixed for stereo transmissions to older receivers.
    Sky has been using the Telegenic OB vehicle for live sporting event coverage in 3-D and 5.1 stereo sound, including 3-D coverage of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
