[Satellite TODAY 08-06-10] DeLorme, a provider of mapping and global positioning system (GPS) technologies, has released two new PN-Series GPS receivers, the company announced Aug. 6.
    The Earthmate PN-60 handheld GPS is equipped with the Spot satellite communicator and outbound text satellite messaging. The unit is not designed for direct satellite communication.
    The Earthmate PN-60w also lets users to send text messages to recipients’ cell phones and email addresses and to social networking sites. Additional features include  GPX file support, geo-caching, an elevation profile tool that pinpoints user location, new power management and display options to extend battery life and 3.5 gigabytes of onboard memory to store maps and aerial imagery for outdoor adventures.
