[Satellite TODAY 08-05-10] EMS Technologies’ LXE mobile and global tracking businesses drove company profits in the second quarter of 2010, producing net earnings of $3.9 million and revenues of $88.5 million, the company announced in its financial results, issued Aug. 4.
The company said its LXE mobile business unit had its best sales quarter since 2008, with $36.4 million in revenues, up 22 percent higher from the second quarter in 2009. EMS said its LXE revenue improvement was due to a resurgent North American market. International revenues also increased, but at a lower rate, as revenues and gross margins were pressured by a weaker Euro.
EMS’s satellite global tracking business expanded its presence in the security sector and generated total revenues of $10.5 million in the second quarter. The company said revenues improved from success in both its newer global tracking initiatives and the legacy international search-and-rescue market.
