[Satellite TODAY 07-30-10] Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) second quarter 2010 net sales increased 5 percent to $1.19 billion, compared to the second quarter of 2009, due to growth on classified business, the company announced in its latest financial results, issued July 29.
Raytheon SAS recorded $171 million of operating income compared to $175 million in the second quarter 2009. Raytheon said the change in operating income was due to a favorable contractual settlement in the second quarter 2009. Raytheon booked $160 million worth of space business on two international AESA tactical radar programs and $563 million on a number of classified contracts.
While the company’s SAS division performed well, Raytheon posted second-quarter net income of $208 million, compared with net income of $489 million in the same quarter in 2009.
