[Satellite TODAY 07-30-10]  BSkyB’s 2010 fiscal year revenues increased 11 percent to 5.9 billion British pounds ($9.2 billion), and operating revenues jumped 35 percent to 1.1 billion pounds ($1.7 billion) compared to 2009, the company announced July 29.
BSkyB had over 9.8 million subscribers at the end of June, adding 90,000 subscribers in the 2010 fourth quarter. The operator also is closing in on 3 million HD service subscribers, adding 300,000 HD customers in the fourth quarter to reach a total of 2.9 million. BSkyB added 11,000 broadband subscribers during the quarter to reach more than 2.6 million total broadband customers.
Nick Bell, a researcher at Jefferies International, said BSkyB’s 2010 results were slightly ahead of projections. “KPI’s were largely in-line with net adds of 90,000 on the back of very strong HD take-up. About 30 percent of [BSkyB’s] subscriber base is now HD.”
