[Satellite TODAY 07-26-10] Eutelsat signed an agreement with Italian telco Tiscali to expand its range of Tooway satellite broadband service broadband products by launching a satellite service targeting the 12 percent of the Italian population un-served by ADSL or fiber, Eutelsat announced July 23.
The service will be called Tiscali BroadbandSat and will use the Tooway consumer broadband technology provided by Eutelsat and its Skylogic affiliate.
“The selection of Tooway by one of the most innovative telecom companies to emerge in Europe since the Internet revolution took off is a key milestone for us. It underscores the validity of our technology and highlights just how far satellites are anchored as a core technology for achieving universal broadband access,” Skylogic CEO and Eutelsat Multiedia Director Arduino Patacchini said in a statement.
