[Satellite TODAY 07-19-10] H2OLiteSpeed has extended its maritime VSAT solution to provide coverage over European waters ranging from the Mid-Mediterranean region to Turkey, the company announced July 16.
The solution is based on SES Astra’s broadband technology Astra2Connect and powered by the recent launch of the Astra 3B satellite, located at 23.5 degrees East. The service aims to provide low-cost communication services to short sea and leisure vessels at download speeds up to 2 megabits per second. The solution includes a 60-centimeter antenna bundled with support and installation for a fixed monthly fee.
“H2OLiteSpeed caused a flurry of interest and orders at launch, so we all knew that extending the footprint would allow us to gain more traction and customers. The launch of the Astra 3B satellite now allows us to do that,” H2OSatellite Founder Robert Kenworthy said in a statement.
