[Satellite TODAY 06-30-10] Telenor has signed a set-top box testing deal with Mirifice, which will see the broadcast company use Mirifice’s MiriATE system to automate testing of digital television set-top boxes before they are deployed to Telenor’s customers, the company announced June 29.
    Telenor will use the automating testing to improve the quality of its set-top boxes in order to lower costs for customers. Prior to automation all tests were done manually, however, Telenor claims that manual testing cannot reliably test for long periods or repeat tests accurately, making regression testing, soak testing (long term) and stress testing difficult.
     “We looked at a number of automated test systems and we were impressed by Mirifice’s technical flexibility and solution oriented approach to meeting our needs,” Telenor Vice President and CTO Terje Storhaug said in a statement.
