[Satellite TODAY 06-22-10] EchoStar has launched DishHD, a premier satellite pay-TV service, in Taiwan, the company announced June 21.
    DishHD aims to provide more than 30 Hd video channels from Asia and around the world to Taiwanese audiences in an all-digital format distributed directly to consumer homes from the AsiaSat 4 satellite.
    The signals are received by a 30-centimeter satellite antenna and sent to a digital set-top box. The DishHD set-top box includes the 612t HD DVR, which features two satellite tuners, an interactive electronic program guide and a 500 gigabyte internal digital video recorder.
    “DishHD is excited to introduce our Premier Pack with the most HD channels in Taiwan for the promotional price of approximately $32 per month. We plan to expand to more than 50 total HD channels by year-end,” EchoStar President Steve Schaver said in a statement.
