[Satellite TODAY 06-10-10] Offshore telecommunications and network services provider Broadpoint has been acquired by Cellular One, a provider of nationwide GSM/EDGE voice and data communications services, Broadpoint announced June 9.
Broadpoint will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cellular One, while retaining its headquarters in Houston. Cellular One will merge the two companies, leveraging Broadpoint’s 100,000 square-mile GSM/EDGE network in the Gulf of Mexico and onshore to run through Cellular One networks in Texas, Oklahoma, Montana and Wyoming.
Cellular One said the merger would give its users access to an expanded mobile network and constant connectivity through a single mobile device. “Uniting Broadpoint with Cellular One creates a bridge between the personal and professional lives of many of our customers, providing them with comprehensive coverage offshore, in their land-based office and at home,” Broadpoint President and COO Bryan Olivier said in a statement.
Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
