[Satellite TODAY 06-02-10] ND SatCom has promoted CTO and COO Johann Pohany to president and CEO effective immediately, the company announced June 2.
Pohany succeeds Norbert Hölzle, who was promoted to COO of ND Satcom’s parent company, SES Astra, after serving at ND Satcom for one year. Pohany will join ND SatCom CFO Oliver Meier to manage the company’s finances, controlling, legal counsel, human resources and supply chain.
At SES Astra, Hölzle succeeds Alexander Oudendijk as COO. Hölzle will take over the sales and marketing responsibility for the media business across all markets served by SES Astra.
“With the appointment of Norbert Hölzle we will put an even stronger focus on specific markets and their respective challenges. We are convinced that this will help us to further enhance our commitment to our customers and to drive the growth of our company,” SES Astra President and CEO Ferdinand Kayser said in a statement.
SES is making ND SatCom a key focus for the company as it is looking to divest the asset as soon as it can. In a research note, Eric Beaudet, a satellite equity analyst at Natixis Securities, said SES has decided to streamline its offering and only retain ND SatCom services that generate solid demand for capacity. “Along these lines, the group hopes to be able to announce by this summer the disposal of ND Satcom, which was responsible for recent difficulties at the Services divisions and the downgrade to the 2009 sales target,” Beaudet said.
