[Satellite TODAY 05-27-10] Eutelsat has teamed up with Eurosport to broadcast the French Open in 3-D to retail stores throughout Europe, Eutelsat announced May 27.
The 3-D coverage, running from May 23 to June 6, is being transmitted to Hot Bird 6 at 13 degrees East for reception by retail outlets and business clients in 28 countries across Europe.
The event aims to showcase the potential of sport as a driver for the consumer 3-D market and Panasonic’s full end-to-end 3-D capabilities, from 3-D cameras on court, to new-generation consumer displays.
“We are delighted that Eutelsat has agreed to partner with Eurosport for the distribution of the French Open tennis Grand Slam 3-D signal. Eutelsat is a longstanding partner of Eurosport and we are happy to build on the strong relationship that we enjoy through this latest exciting initiative,” Eurosport Technical Director Pascal Crochemore said in a statement.
