[Satellite TODAY 05-24-10] Eutelsat Communications renewed its partnership with Telecoms Sans Frontieres (TSF) to support the organization’s humanitarian aid operations throughout the world, Eutelsat announced May 21.
The partnership, initially created in 2007, saw TSF integrate Eutelsat’s D-Star broadband service into telecommunications solutions deployed for the humanitarian community active in Europe, Africa and the Americas.
TSF said it will use the extended partnership with Eutelsat to reinforce its long-term initiatives in Africa with the implementation of D-Star terminals in Niger and Burkina Faso to help develop the agricultural economy of isolated communities as well as medical and school services.
“Eutelsat’s satellite technology is a strong match for our needs. It enables us to react immediately to emergencies and also helps support long-term programs, building up local capacities and improving life conditions,” TSF President Jean-Francois Cazenave in a statement.
