[Satellite TODAY 05-20-10] Israel’s Yes satellite TV provider has launched video-on-demand (VOD) and broadband services using OnDemand, an add-on module that supports multiplatform on-demand services within Pilat Media’s IBMS broadcast management system, the company announced May 19.
    IBMS controls content re-ingestion in MPEG-4 and MPEG-2 formats and inserts extra metadata that enables searches of the VOD content. Yes is offering the service as part of its MaxTotal package combining HD, VOD, and personal video recroder facilities.
    Yes worked with Pilat Media to deploy and integrate IBMS with the broadcaster’s NDS and Harmonic to produce the multi-platform workflow for the nonlinear environment.
In the next phase, Yes said it will introduce a cellular phone service for mobile viewing and continue to expand its library of VOD content.
