[Satellite TODAY 05-20-10] Intelsat will temporarily relocate playout facilities, uplink and satellite segment on Intelsat’s IS-709 satellite to the 54.85 degrees East orbital slot to accommodate FIFA 2010 World Cup broadcasting requirements, the operator announced May 19.
    Intelsat is providing more than 700 MHz of satellite capacity on more than seven of its satellites to provide World Cup transmission services to the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
    Intelsat also has been contracted by World Cup broadcasters to provide location consultation and in-country satellite newsgathering services as well as managed platforms for encoding, multiplexing and compression equipment in SD and HD
